Webcam and Microphone Protection
True Protection by Jag monitors and controls access to your webcam and microphone, preventing unauthorized applications from spying on you. This feature ensures that only applications you explicitly trust can access your camera and microphone.
How It Works
- Access Monitoring: True Protection hooks into the operating system camera and microphone APIs to detect when any application attempts to access these devices.
- Notification Alerts: When an application tries to use your webcam or microphone, you receive an immediate on-screen notification with the option to allow or block.
- Application Allowlist: Trusted applications (such as Zoom, Teams, or FaceTime) can be added to the allowlist for uninterrupted access.
- Activity Log: View a complete history of which applications accessed your webcam or microphone, including timestamps and duration.
Configuration
- Step 1: Navigate to Privacy > Device Protection.
- Step 2: Enable Webcam Guard and Microphone Guard.
- Step 3: Review the list of applications that have previously requested access.
- Step 4: Set each application to Allow, Block, or Ask Every Time.
Indicator Overlay
When your webcam or microphone is actively in use by an allowed application, True Protection displays a small colored indicator on your screen. A green indicator means a trusted application is using the device. A red indicator means an untrusted or unknown application has gained access and you should investigate immediately.
