Configuring Auto-Update Settings

True Protection by Jag is configured to update automatically by default, but you can customize update behavior to fit your needs and network constraints. This article covers all available auto-update settings.

Auto-Update Options

  • Fully Automatic (Recommended): Signature and engine updates are downloaded and installed immediately when available. No user interaction required.
  • Download Automatically, Install on Schedule: Updates are downloaded in the background but only installed during a specified maintenance window.
  • Notify Only: True Protection notifies you when updates are available but waits for you to approve the download and installation.
  • Manual Only: Updates are only applied when you manually check for and install them. Not recommended for most users.

Configuring Update Schedule

  • Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Updates > Auto-Update.
  • Step 2: Select your preferred update mode.
  • Step 3: If using scheduled installation, set the maintenance window (day and time).
  • Step 4: Configure bandwidth limits for update downloads if you are on a metered connection.
  • Step 5: Choose whether to allow updates over metered/mobile connections.

Enterprise Update Management

Organizations using the Management Console can control update distribution centrally. Updates can be staged, tested on a pilot group, and then rolled out to the full fleet. Navigate to Policies > Update Settings in the console to configure organization-wide update behavior. A local update mirror can also be configured to reduce external bandwidth usage.
