Fixing Slow Performance After Installation

It is normal to experience a brief period of slower performance immediately after installing True Protection by Jag. The software performs initial system indexing and a first-run scan that can temporarily increase resource usage. This typically resolves within a few hours.

If Performance Remains Slow

If sluggish performance continues beyond the initial setup period, try these optimizations:

Optimize Scan Settings

  • Set scan priority to Low in Settings > Scanner > Performance.
  • Enable Smart Scan Scheduling so scans only run when the system is idle.
  • Reduce the archive scanning depth if you have many nested compressed files.

Add Development or Build Tool Exclusions

If you are a software developer, your build tools and compilation processes create many temporary files rapidly. Add these directories to the exclusion list:

  • Project build output directories (bin, obj, dist, node_modules)
  • Virtual machine disk files
  • Docker container storage directories
  • Database data directories for local development servers

Check for Compatibility Issues

  • Ensure you are running the latest version of True Protection.
  • Update your operating system to the latest available version.
  • Remove any other security software that may be causing resource contention.

If performance issues persist, contact our support team with a diagnostic report generated from Settings > General > Generate Diagnostic Report.
